A MASTERPIECE OF LINKS DESIGN
Originally designed by Willie Fernie in 1901, the course has evolved through the work of some of the game’s most respected architects, including Philip Mackenzie Ross and Martin Ebert, with significant enhancements introduced in 2016 and most recently in 2025. The latest changes saw Ebert transform the par-five seventh by relocating the green to the very edge of the shoreline, maximising the drama of the coastal setting and its challenge. The neighbouring par-four eighth has been straightened to align with the land’s natural camber, and further improvements across holes twelve to seventeen have improved the rhythm of play and introduced new strategic dimensions, all while remaining faithful to the course's storied heritage.

Are golf buggies available for hire?
Golf buggies are available for hire from £65 per round for the 2026 season, subject to course regulations. On the Ailsa Course, buggies may be used only with a valid medical certificate and must be driven by a caddie. On the King Robert the Bruce Course, buggies may be hired and driven by the golfer. Availability is seasonal and should be confirmed in advance by contacting reservations@trumpturnberry.com.
Can non-hotel guests book tee times at Turnberry?

How long does it take to play the Ailsa Course?
A round on the Ailsa Course typically takes approximately 4.5 to 5 hours, depending on conditions and pace of play.
Who can play the Ailsa Course?
The Ailsa Course is open to resident and non-resident golfers aged 16 and over. No handicap certificate is required to play.
Is there a dress code for golf at Turnberry?
A traditional golf dress code applies at Trump Turnberry. Golfers are required to wear tailored shirts with collars, tailored trousers or shorts, appropriate socks, and golf shoes. Jeans and collarless shirts are not permitted on the courses.
